Sven declares Five Lakes fit for the best
Fantastic! That’s how the England manager, Sven-Göran Eriksson described stunning new facilities at The Five Lakes Hotel and Country Club where his squad spent three days preparing for their friendly International match against Croatia on Wednesday.
As he unveiled a plaque to officially open the club’s state-of-the-art gym, he was full of praise for the top quality Technogym workout equipment and the impressive plasma TV screens: “They really are excellent,” he said, “very impressive indeed.”
Sven was given a personal tour of the recently-built stylish and contemporary gym and even took time to try out some of the equipment, pleased to have the opportunity to try out the latest machines for the first time. After finding time to sign autographs for a group of young fans, he toured some of Five Lakes other stunning leisure facilities including a superb new aerobics studio with specially sprung floor and the popular indoor tennis and badminton hall, which is also used for conferences and exhibitions.
The England manager’s squad made full use of the facilities during their stay, training on the immaculate UEFA-standard training pitch, and working out alongside Country Club members in the gym. Sven added: “Five Lakes has been a superb location for the England team to train and prepare for a game.”
Five Lakes owner Abraham Bejerano said it had been a real honour to host the England squad: “They clearly appreciated all our super facilities available to them from the training pitch through to the gym and the Country Club & Spa. The Five Lakes team worked hand in hand with the FA to ensure the team’s time with us was productive, secure but enjoyable too.”
The Hotel, near Tiptree, has hosted many Premiership clubs, and is continuing to invest in additional sports and leisure facilities, with refurbished outdoor tennis courts and plans for more spa treatment rooms, along with a further 80 luxury bedrooms opening in October of this year.
