Roadshow hopes to lick profits into shape

“More Training Makes More Lolly” is the sweet message from a special roadshow set to hit Essex in the coming weeks.

The 10-day Profit from Learning roadshow campaign will see a convoy of Smart cars, a promotions team and special advisers descending on business parks and industrial estates across the county. It’s all aimed at driving home the benefits of the free, flexible and tailor-made training available to employers and employees in Essex through the highly successful training scheme, Profit from Learning.

And to sugar the point that “More Training Makes More Lolly”, the roadshow crews will hand out thousands of lollipops with the red and white Profit from Learning logo to anyone interested in taking up the free training as well as promotional literature explaining how the initiative works. A Profit from Learning adviser will also be on hand to talk to employers and employees about how the training can be organised to suit them and how to access the funding.

The roadshow will run from 11- 22 August and will visit up to three different sites in ten Essex locations, each for one day. These include Uttlesford, Thurrock, Epping Forest, Brentwood, Castle Point, Basildon, Maldon, Braintree, Harlow and Rochford. (see exact locations below)

Profit from Learning is Essex’s highly successful Employer Training Pilot that has attracted further Government funds in this year’s Budget to enhance its trailblazing success across the county.

Janice Logie, Director of Workforce Development at the Learning and Skills Council, Essex (LSC) which manages the scheme with Business Link for Essex said: “We are delighted that over 1,000 local companies are now on board with Profit from Learning  - and now we want to bring the good news to even more people in the workplace.

“The offer of free training runs until the summer of 2004 and this year we are delighted that the Government has given another £8 million to directly help companies to train their employees – at no cost to the business. The roadshows will be driving home the message that all businesses are now in a financial position to train their employees – and boost their profits, team morale and motivation at the same time.”
